Mexican Hat Cactus Nursery |
VISIT US !We started the Mexican Hat Cactus Nursery in 1968 . The nursery is located in Riverside, California. The climate in our area is warm, dry and conducive to the production of cacti and succulent plants. Each year we produce several thousand unique and unusual plants. The majority of these are propagated from our own stock plants and seed that we produce. . Collector specimens and one-of-a-kind plants similar to those shown here are regularly offered for sale. We excel at producing plants with vibrant, yet delicate flowers that must be seen to be truly appreciated. Plants with interesting textures, colors, and shapes are always available. The nursery is open by appointment only. If you would like to visit us contact us by phone at 951.687.9055 or by e-mail at Mexican Hat Cactus. Please be aware that Mexican Hat Cactus is a specialty nursery. We sell only cactus and succulents, no bedding plants or other nuresery plants and we carry no garden supplies. Euphorbia rigidaEuphorbia rigida native to the southern Mediterranean area of Africa grows well in California . The plant is cold hardy to at least 20 ° F. and is drought tolerant It survives well in the full southern California sun or shade. The flowers on he clone that we produce are lime green and start blooming in early February . In our nursery the plant is a perennial and grows to approximately 30” high and wide. Caution should be used with the placement of this plant as the milky sap is toxic to some persons.
I have been told that this is a form of ‘Gopher spurge' and that it repels gophers. In my nursery the gophers eat the roots of this plant first and apparently suffer no ill effects! Your call is very important to us ... really! If you call and get the answering machine, please speak clearly and repeat your phone number so we can return your call. Come visit - the nursery is open! The nursery has re-opened and is available to visit. Don't forget to call first to be sure we will be here to welcome you. |
